Rock Control has been engaged under the NZTA Maintenance Contract to deliver specialist rockfall mitigation and asset protection works across Canterbury and the West Coast. Our scope has included rock scaling, bridge maintenance support, and the installation of ground anchors and protective mesh systems to safeguard highways and critical infrastructure.
These works are essential in protecting road users, maintaining network resilience, and reducing the risk of rockfall related disruptions across high-risk transport corridors.
Most recently, our team completed rockfall scaling works at Meybille Bay. Using specialist rope access techniques, our technicians carried out controlled scaling, carefully releasing loose rock and active ground material in a managed manner. By proactively removing unstable material, we significantly reduce the likelihood of unexpected rockfall events and potential landslides, helping to maintain slope stability and ensure public safety.
Rock Control has delivered numerous similar projects throughout Canterbury and the West Coast, often in challenging terrain and exposed coastal environments. Health and safety remains our highest priority. All rope access works are undertaken exclusively by technicians qualified under:
-
IRATA – Industrial Rope Access Trade Association, an internationally recognised body that sets strict training, assessment, and safety standards for rope access technicians.
-
IRAANZ – Industrial Rope Access Association of New Zealand, the national organisation promoting best practice, competency, and safe rope access operations within New Zealand.
By combining experienced personnel, certified rope access systems, and proactive risk management, Rock Control continues to provide safe, efficient, and reliable rockfall mitigation services across the South Island
